Hello everybody! I figure I should update you all every few months, lol.  For a little while my life was very busy, but for a while now things have been slower.  Still busy, but I'm getting a grasp on everything.  As I mentioned long ago in my last journal, I was pregnant.  My beautiful baby boy Dominic Xander Carlson was born March 3rd, 2013.  Three weeks early... It's actually a funny story. Apparently BK Whoppers hate me.  I got violently ill and spent the night puking up my Whopper. I decided after 6 hours of puking to go to the hospital and it was then the doctors decided they weren't going to let me go home without a baby in my arms. :XD:  He's the world to me and I can't wait to make art with him! I even got him a DA shirt before he was born.

My Baby Boy by RyouGirl

In other news, I do have a few Artist Alleys to add to my agenda. With Colossalcon less than two weeks away, I just want to let anyone wondering know that I did not get a table this year.  They didn't feel like letting me in i guess. :( I will be at the con as an attendee on Friday June 7th.  If there is anyone who was planning on buying something from me, feel free to let me know and I can bring stuff with me and we can meet up.  But you must let me know ahead of time or else you'll just have to use PayPal.  I did however get a table at Matsuricon, so I will be returning for my second year.  Also, I recently became the official con artist for Glass City Con.  Even though Glass City Con 4 will not occur until 2014, I'm already set up to be there.  However, I will not be in the Artist Alley.  I will be in the Vendors section! Just an FYI.  That's all I know of so far.  We'll see with a new child and whatnot how my schedule will be this year.  I did have to give up several cons earlier in the year due to having a baby, but I'm trying to get to a few cons for the rest of the year.  How else can mama bring home the dough?

A friend of mine has built a website for me.  It hasn't launched yet, but I suppose I'll be back to notify you when it has.  It will have a direct way to purchase prints and commissions with a PayPal checkout so there's no having to email or send notes like you must do now.

Also, after two long years, I updated finally updated my Yugioh Fanfic! If you can even remember what was going on, go check it out! Ryou, OUT!

New Journal time! It's only been 7 months, lol.  I suppose I should mention this, but I will be going to Youmacon in 2 weeks! I'll be there with my Artist Alley table selling far more artwork than I had last time I was there.  I hope to do better now that I've had more AA experience.  Youmacon 2010 was my official start in the biz and it's time to prove I've learned something. So if you're going to Youmacon, stop by! Artist Alley will be in the Cobo center this year, so hopefully that won't confuse everyone and they will still be able to find us. :XD:  Looking forward to seeing LittleKuriboh again as well as meeting Josh Keaton! This con is gonna be the bomb.

Other big news, I'm starting to look like this: A Baby Changes Everything by RyouGirl
Not with white hair or anything… Just with a baby bump. That time in my life has finally come where I am having children. I have my own little Kita inside me, lol. Actually I have a few more weeks until I can find out the gender, but I am preggo. So as if I don't post enough art now, come late March you'll probably think I'm dead. :XD: I don't know how much time I'll have for art after the little one arrives, but the plan is to continue as much as possible. In fact, I'm still doing lots of art now, but 100% of it has been commissions which is why you never see any of it. :(  I also plan to resume Artist Alley by Colossalcon in June. Before that your last chance to find me will be at Ohayocon in January. By then I will be plenty fat, lol.

Artist Alleys:
Youmacon- Detroit, Michigan (Nov. 1-4, 2012)
Ohayocon- Columbus, Ohio (Jan. 18-20, 2013)

Updates

Thu Mar 15, 2012, 5:59 PM
I just needed to add some more Artist Alley's to the list.  2012 is turning out to be a busy year.  I'm still wanting super badly to return to Youmacon and maybe, maybe venture into the state of Wisconsin for Geek.con so I can visit my cousins. We'll see.  That plus my already maybes would literally be the most perfect con year ever!

So this list of conventions has made me very busy.  Animarathon is only 8 days away and SakuraCon, only 21 days away. SO MUCH TO DO! I'm still working on a cosplay as well as painting bags.  And hopefully the first con will be profitable enough to fund the second one as far as refreshing my supplies.

I've also started my P90X fitness again.  Only this time I'm supplementing some of the workouts for Just Dance and Zumba, lol.  Just as much of a workout I might add! And more fun than watching the same videos over and over again.  I've already lost some weight and hope to drop below my end weight from last summer before I went on my cruise.  Cause this year I'm going on another one and I want to look good. :aww: Wish me luck in all my endeavors!

I'm writing a journal again which means I must be back from another con! Lol.  A little late though as this was almost a week ago.  It is a journal, so I feel it is appropriate to write about my artistic experiences and such, so choose to read or not to.

Got back from Ohayocon a week ago and I'm still WOOPED!  I felt fine for a few days then on Wednesday, my con plague hit.  So now I feel like crap and even though I've been sleeping more than usual, it's not enough to make a quick recovery. :XD: Anywho.  So I got my Artist Alley table on Friday which was literally exactly where I dreamed it would be. (no joke!) My cousin was helping me set up my table and I look beside me, and there is none other than DA legend  zeiva. :faint: So I'm like, yeah… I won't be selling much this weekend, lol.  But she was super nice and of course amazing.  Sales were a little slower than expected on Friday, but I did get to enjoy going to the rave Friday night.  My cousin was the opening act so I had to rush straight over and I also wanted to stay and see Greg Ayres.  So somehow I danced hardcore for 4 straight hours.  Obviously I'm a noob because I didn't realize how much it makes you hurt. :XD: Excellent workout, but I was really feeling the pain!

Saturday things perked up in the alley.  I started to see more and more of my old con buddies.   It was sort of turning into an anime convention reunion.  But it always makes me happy to make friends and get to see them again.  I got to meet a few Haberkornians in the flesh which was a nice surprise! And, due to Artist Alley closing earlier, I was able to make it to my first Todd Haberkorn panel! Horrayz! Afterwards Todd assured me he would come visit me at my prison.  I mean table! :XD:

So after getting up after only a few hours of sleep, I headed down for my last day.  Todd came to visit just as he said he would so I was able to show him all the stuff I do that isn't Team Haberkorn related.  I gave him my chibi Todd that I did for the contest a while back.  So chibi Todd has a new home.  Our meeting just left me with that feeling like my artistic career is really going somewhere and maybe someday soon, I'll be able to go farther than I could have ever hoped.  Although, not gonna lie, working with Todd is a dream come true in itself. :excited:  After that my sales just went through the roof.  Somehow I ended up selling the most on Sunday and that never happens!  I kept thinking, how is it possible that this convention keeps getting better and better every day? Cause it's Ohayocon and it's magical!

So in the end Ohayocon 2012 turned out to be my best con sales-wise.  Honestly, I never believed that would happen, but it did make it great!  Overall, I made lots of awesome memories and I have to say this was the best anime convention I've been to yet!  And of course I'm struggling through all the commissions I got cause being sick and working on so many drawings is not an easy task!  Post con depression won't last long as Sakura-Con is just over two months away! I have a new cosplay to make and butt load of stuff to paint before then, so wish me luck!  :XD: :XD: :XD:

Hello all!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  I know I did.  Granted I was sick, and sorta still am, but got to see plenty of family and friends and just had a really nice time. And I got some cool stuff.  My big gift this year from my hubby was a bike!  I haven't had a bike in years, but I happen to live about 5 minutes from one of the longest biking trails in the state of Ohio, so come spring or summer I'll be out there biking hardcore!  Also got some new dance games for the Wii which I hope will help me get in shape as Con season rolls around again.  Less than a month till Ohayocon. PUMPED!  So much to do!!! Can I get it all done?  I hope so... I mean, YES I CAN!  I'll probably resume progress on my cosplays tomorrow.  They are only half finished. Why in 6 months of no conventions am I just now getting around to anything?!

Gotta make a plug here.  Recently a fellow deviant launched the group :iconteam-haberkorn:.  Several Team Haberkorn members discussed starting a DA group so we could assemble artists and share Haberkorn inspired artwork with each other.  And now, even those who haven't purchased an official club membership can still join in the fun.  So spread the word! We are actively seeking new members and of course artwork for the gallery to get this group up and running!

And now, a look back at 2011.

The Awesome:
-Lost Weight - for the first time ever, I did it! Originally I lost 19 lbs, but I did gain a few back.  However I've managed to keep 12-13 of those pounds off!
-Went to more conventions - in 2011 I made it to 4 conventions.  3 more than attended in 2010.
-Joined Team Haberkorn - not only did I join, I earned a place as an artist for one of the greatest VAs in the anime industry.
-Went on my first cruise.
-Picked up another job illustrating children's books.

Needs Improvement:
-Need to loose more weight.  Now that I know it's possible, I guess nothing can stop me from succeeding!
-Started my manga, but didn't get far enough to post it.  And to make things harder on myself,  I plan on starting a shorter one that if I did work hard enough, I could finish within a year.
-Improve Artistically.  Hard to say since it seems like I hardly did anything, lol.  Most of the stuff I worked on this year was for other people, so it's hard to say how I did.
-Write some fanfiction.  I think last year I only managed to write 1 chapter.  In 2011 I did 2.  Could have done better obviously, lol.
-And of course, go to more conventions!

Best of luck in your own endeavors in 2012!

Greatness Update

Fri Nov 11, 2011, 1:29 PM
Hey everyone!  How long as it been since I last wrote a journal? :XD: In fact, why is it that now you can add journals to your favorites? :XD: Apparently if I don't go to a convention, there's nothing worth reporting about, lol.  But, I promise I'm not dead!  In fact, I am hear to dump all the goodness that's been going on in my life on you!

So I think the last thing I ever reported on was Glass City Con and ranted about how I was denied the privilege to go to Youmacon.  So Youmacon passed by me last weekend and I thought I'd be really sad and all, but to be honest some amazing things have happened these past 2 weeks that made me forget all about it!  So lets rewind back to August where it all started...

First off, way back in August I participated in a contest prior to the launch of a little group called Team Haberkorn.  For those who don't know, Team Haberkorn is the official fan club of Todd Haberkorn (actor/ voice actor).  It's run by Todd himself as well as a few other amazingly nice people.  Anywho, the challenge was to draw Yamato from Suzuka for a design that would be used in the year 1 button for all joining members.  Well... I won! I should probably post my picture to prove it or something... Lol.  Everyone who joins Team Haberkorn gets the button with their swag which also includes a T-Shirt, lanyard, membership card, and autograph card. (And if you join in the month of November you also get a bag!)  I didn't get to join right away due to the fact that I only get paid every once in a blue moon so I had to wait to actually become a member, but at long last all those people who owed me money came through all at once! So I got my membership and my stuff arrived.  Mama Korn, Suzette (TH President) sent me some extra buttons since I designed them. :) Put a smile on my face.  And then a few weeks later, Suzette actually contacted me to ask if I wanted to become a permanent part of the team as an artist. So after flipping out a little with excitement, I accepted!  So now I have the privilege of designing the membership buttons for every year as well as some other cool things.  In fact I'm already hard at work on something.  Kind of interesting to say i work with Todd Haberkorn. :D :D :D

Second awesome thing! A week ago I applied for Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington.  I had to stay home so that exactly at 10pm EST on the dot, i could type faster than I've ever typed to submit an application for artist alley.  Sometime just after midnight this morning I got the email saying I got in! I'm pretty sure I submitted my application within 20 seconds and i'm all the way down at 94th on a list of 100 artists. I barely made it! But i'm soooooooooo happy that I did!  In April I get to go to Seattle for the first time ever, not to mention one of the most infamous Anime Conventions in the country.  Let that be a lesson to anyone who's thinking about trying to get into these big conventions.  Sometimes you've only got a 30 second time frame, so don't waste it!

Also, special shout out for my buddy Nasdreks She recently landed a deal with a publishing company for her original Manga 'The Sorcerers Apprentice'.  I bought the first Vol. when she was self publishing and it's nothing short of amazing! She never ceases to blow me away with all the hard work she does to make her dreams a reality.  So go check it out and support her! bwillettcomics.com/sorcerersap…

Ok, now for all the lesser exciting things.  Sometime in September maybe? I got a Mac.  So i now have a super huge computer screen and awesome operating speeds.  I should give livestream a try.  I'll bet my ultra fast Mac can actually handle it!  I'm also getting an iPhone, FINALLY. My blackberry is like 3 years old and it's just too slow. Plus, with this new phone i will be able to accept credit card transactions at conventions, so good news to all those of you who can't get cash from the empty ATMs!  Ohayocon is less than 3 months away and I've still got 2 cosplays to make.  Not to mention a but load of merch to create and a shoe commission to finish.  Oh and I illustrate children's books now too.  I've already started giving up sleep, lol. So if you don't see much from me it's because I'm too busy working on stuff that I'm making for other people.  But's it's all good.  It's my JOB as an artist. :)

Busy Busy Summer

Tue Aug 2, 2011, 12:59 PM
Hello everyone!  Time to update again.  Mostly about Artist Alley, lol. :)

I didn't post a journal after returning from Glass City Con even though that was almost a month ago now, lol. I suck.  Anywho, it went really well.  Of the two small conventions i went to this spring/summer season, i liked Glass City Con more.  It was well run in a nice facility.  Met new people and had some returning costumers.   I think i love cons more and more every time I go to one. :aww:  I recently had to forfeit my Youmacon table that I actually applied and was accepted for. Due to the fact that I know basically no one that goes to conventions, I was unable to find anyone to go with and so passed on the opportunity to claim my table.  :( It deeply saddens me. I LOVED Youmacon and I will really really really miss it this year.  And it doesn't help that my hubby had a change of heart today telling me that I could go. *headdesk* Too late...

But, on the bright side, even though I'm loosing 1 amazing convention, I have new and bigger opportunities this coming year.  (As long as I can actually get tables that is. :XD:) For one, my cousin recently moved to Seattle Washington, sooo I am %100 set on applying for a table at the amazingly grand, huge, spantankulous, infamous Sakura-Con! :faint:  I'll let you know how that goes.  If it works out, I will be on my way to the other side of the country for the biggest convention I will probably ever attend. *fingerscrossed*  AND some friends of mine are moving to Florida for the next year and have invited me to come stay with them to attend Florida conventions.  After looking into it, Metrocon is the closest to them and with a cherry on top, the largest Florida anime convention! So I am also pursuing an AA table at Metrocon for sure!  As of right now, I'm just waiting on applications for Ohayocon cause it's the next convention that I'm planning on going to.  I hate that it's still 6 months away! Con withdraw is already setting in. :XD:

That being said, since I've got at least 6 months till my next convention, I've decided I'm going to try and make at least 2 new cosplays in that time period.  One i've already done a lot of planning for, the other won't be as hard, but still need to take the time to make it midst my busy life.  I've been repainting my display shoes for my table.  Also I want to make a new product or two to add to my selling items for the cons.  It's always nice to have moar and moar.  Just need to figure out what those new things will be. :D Maybe it's good that I don't have another con for that long cause they tend to suck up all my time.  Gives me plenty of time to make new stuff for Ohayocon while working on the 3 other illustrating jobs i've been trying to juggle.  These days I look at my to do list and wonder when my hobby became my full time job. :XD: :XD: :XD:

In other news, I've been traveling A LOT.  I've literally been up and down the entire East Coast this summer.  Seems like every weekend I'm somewhere new.  I'm 25 years old now and my two year wedding anniversary is coming up in two weeks.  I'm getting so old!!! :XD: But at heart I'm still 16, and that's all that matters.  Commissions are always open, so send me a note if you want anything.

My prints are always for sale, so check out what I've got at the link below and note me if you are intersted in purchasing anything. :D :D :D

Post Colossalcon

Mon Jun 6, 2011, 12:24 PM
Hello Peeps!

I'm back from Colossalcon now.  I just have to say I had an AMAZING weekend.  It was my best Artist Alley so far!  I didn't know what to expect since I've never been to this con.  It would have been my first last year if I didn't get shut out of the lottery, but boy am I glad I got in this year.  I was blown away! Since Colossalcon is only about half the size of Ohayocon, I was thinking I wouldn't do as good, but I outsold myself.  Not only that but I've got a list of commissions to work on now which will keep me pleanty busy for the next week or two.  Love the enthusiasm for art.  So if you're a new watcher or just visiting since you picked up my card, thanks to everyone who stopped by or made a purchase.  You made my weekend. :D I can't wait to apply next year!

As far as the con experience, it was a very pleasent one. :) I was surprised upon arrival that we were allowed to pick our tables in the Artist Alley.  I of course went for the end of the hall where one of the main even rooms and the dealer's room was.  I think my location was just perfect for catching all the traffic.  I loved seeing all the cosplayers especially the large amount of Yugioh cosplayers which was surprising.  Also, I got to listen in to the Vic Mignonga panels going on in the event room without having to leave my table. I had wondered how much of the guests I would get to see since I was stuck manning my table the entire weekend.  I saw Vic and Todd Haberkorn in passing a few times.  Todd actually walked through the artist alley on Sunday morning, but because I had my head down in my sketchbook, I failed to notice until he was already passed.  And I hate myself for it cause I would have totally jumped up and gave him a hug or something. :XD: Cherami Leigh (the voice of Patty; Soul Eater) actually came to my table.  I wasn't really sure if it was her until later.  Stupid me... Next time I'll recognize Patty when she is talking about herself in my prints, lol. :XD:  I did get to meet Vic again.  I noticed when I took my stuff out to my car that he was signing autographs at the end of the convention.  Since the line was short I went ahead and jumped in it.  I'm glad that I did.  He signed my badge again (since I never bring anything better for him to sign :XD:) and I got to tell him how he's an inspiration to me as a Christian which I've always wanted to do.  He seemed to be in a much better mood this time around since the line wasn't as long as Youmacon's.  He even asked me for a hug. It was just a perfect end to a wonderful convention.

I didn't actually get to see the waterpark, but the Kalahari itself is so nice, I'd love to go back.  Maybe later this summer when my hubby's with me.  Also my cruise to the Bahama's is only 3 weeks away.  FINALLY.  Time will fly since I'll be so busy with Commissions, lol.  I also just purchased Yugioh Tag Force 4 for my PSP.  Sadly I don't have time to play it yet.  :XD: Go figure.  Maybe while we're on that really long drive to Florida.  I also can't wait for my diet to be over.  I'm only like 2 lbs away from being back to my weight when I graduated high school.  So crazy.  I never realized how much weight I put on since then, lol.  But now I look better in a bathing suit and fantastic in cosplay. :XD:

In other con realated news, I've got 1 more this summer and that's Glass City Con.  I learned just before the weekend that I won the mascot drawing contest, thus winning my AA table for free! Also they are planning to make my entry in a T-Shirt that will be available for purchase at the con.  So if you live in or near the Toledo, Ohio area, you should come cause it's a free convention and all. :D  Check out my winning entry:

AA and Life Updates

Sat Apr 2, 2011, 11:42 AM
Wow.  Apparently it's been so long since I wrote a journal that the whole way you do it has changed. :XD:

Anywho, I thought it might be a good idea to update once every few months, lol.  Since yesterday was April Fools, i guess i could start by mentioning it.  I don't know why but i get so excited to wake up on April 1st and look for all the internet pranks.  I guess that means I'm a true nerd. :XD: It seemed like there were less online pranks this year.  I for one didn't really do anything except change my facebook pic so that I had pink hair. I had another idea, but my husband said it might be too mean. Oh well...

Lately I've been living up majorly to one of my new years resolutions and that is to go to more Anime Conventions! As of right now, I am set to go to 3 this upcoming spring/summer season. The first is at the end of this month.  So much to do!!!!! As I slowly dive into this world of the Artist Alley, I have to say I'm surprised just how many there are in the boring state of Ohio, lol.  So if you happen to live close by or want to make a crazy long trip to see me, here's where I'll be:

Shinboku Con, West Lake OH- April 29th-May1st
Colossalcon, Sandusky OH- June 2nd-5th
Glass City Con, Toledo OH- July 9th-10th

For the rest of the year I'm definetly looking to get back to Youmacon and I may even try to treck it all the way up to Wisconsin for Geek.Con. Geek.Con is far, but I'm considering it mostly because I have two cousins living there who I haven't seen in forever and they might let me stay with them so I don't have to buy a hotel!  Business and Personal trip all in one! :XD:  Of course this has not been decided yet.  They don't even know I'm thinking about it yet, lol.

Aside from that I've been slowly trying to work on new fanart prints, one of which i started at least a month ago but I'm being so picky it's still no where near done. Then my goal is to make 2 more fanart prints as well as possibly some new bookmarks.  We'll see.  I suppose I should pick up the pace this month.  Since Colossalcon and Glass City Con are so close together I hope to have this all done by the end of May because I will also be going on my first cruise at the end of June! :excited: My hubby and I are going to the Bahamas for some sun that I deperately need.  I don't think I've ever been so pale in my life, lol.  It's been spontaniously snowing in Ohio and it's depressing.  It's suppose to be spring!  I guess this means i should think about keeping another one of my resolutions and that is to lose weight so I look good on the beach.  I'm about to start a 90 day (which will end up being slightly less than that) vigorous exercise routine called P90X.  I'm scared... Lol.

Other than that I've been just fine and dandy.  I started buying and reading the Maid Sama manga which I am hardcore in love with.  Also with all these Cons coming up, I have an itch to make somthing new in the Cosplay department.  I just don't know what.  Something to think about I guess.  If you are at all interesting in buying prints from me, remember, here's the gallery with all available prints:

Tale of Ohayocon - START
First off, I was just excited to be going to Ohayocon.  I've had my eye on it for years and it was truely an experience to actually go.  It was huge and crowded just as expected. :XD: I got there on Thursday night and met up with my cousin and one of his frieds who were my roommates. After dinner we just wandered around in the convention center with not much to do.  My cousin was one of the guest DJs for Friday night's rave so he was showing us the room where it was going to be.  And... even though I had no intention of meeting any guests or going to any panels, i did get to meet the one guest i would have picked on Thursday night at the bar of all places. :XD: I got to meet and shake hands with Greg Ayres! If you don't know who that is, he voices Kaoru Hitachiin from Ouran Host Club.  I didn't get his autograph or any pics with him because I figured i didn't want to make myself look bad by going all fangirl on him. Lol.  But apparently my cousin knows him well and that's how he got to be a DJ since Greg runs a lot of stuff going on at Ohayocon.

So on Friday we found out my cousin wasn't going to be a DJ until 3:15am, lol.  So after getting up early that day to get to artist alley, i stayed up all day.  I tried taking a nap to kill time since I knew i was going to be getting up early again the next day and managed to sleep for about 15 mins.  Yay! I abruptly woke up feeling like i'd been hit by a bus and went down to the rave.  By that time most of the people were gone, so the dance floor wasn't too crowded.  It was good fun.  Greg was the host DJ, so in my fangirl mind it was like having a rave hosted by Kaoru, lol. :XD:  Dancing in strobs can make you feel like you're still asleep.  Trippy.

I also stayed up pretty late Saturday night waiting for elevator traffic to die down so i could get ride of my suitcase so i didn't have to get up earlier to take it down to my car.  So after having dinner at 2:00am and finally going
down to pack my car at 3:30 i got to see some of the scarier parts of Ohayocon like the drug party in the parking garage and the the guy who was passed out with his face in a bucket on our hotel floor. :XD: People at Ohayocon party hard.  Apparently on Friday a woman a few doors down also gave birth in her hotel room...

As far as Artist Alley goes I gotta say I loved it.  Instead of leaving and going to stuff like I did at Youmacon, I was at my table the entire convention.  I love the enthusiasm about art in general and I did quite well sales wise. :D I got several commissions and let me tell you, i have never drawn and colored that fast, lol.  I was trying to get them done so people could take them home.  I also frequently had an audience cause, well you all know how much you'd like to see how I color. :XD: Thanks to all those of you from DA that stopped by and said hi. :D I miss it already and I can't wait to apply next year!

One Month To Go

Mon Dec 27, 2010, 12:21 PM
I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.  I know I did.  I got too much awesome stuff.  It was almost too much to take in, lol.  FINALLY got a PSP so now i can finally play KH: Birth By Sleep which so far is rockin.  It really gets me back in the Kingdom Hearts mood. :D Now i can finally find all the inconsistancies with my fanfic and try to salvage the plot, :XD: :XD: :XD:. Also got Epic Mickey which I haven't started yet. My husband got me a bunch of Tron Legacy toys. :XD: So awesome! Bye the way, the movie was awesome!  I went to see it at midnight when it came out and finally found all the other Tron-tards in my area, lol.  If i had the time and money i would totally cosplay Tron Legacy at Ohayocon.  BUT since Ohayocon is only a month away i really need to stop playing so many video games and focus on finishing prints before then! :XD: But I'm super excited since i've wanted to go to Ohayocon for a long time.  It's like a 10-15,000 attendee sized con.  Pretty pumped!  Also need to make another cosplay before then.  I cosplayed as Daisy from Super Mario at Youmacon, but the outfit suffered so much damage, i'm not going to try and wear it again.  But I do still need to take some pics of that one.

:star:I couldn't share this with you before because it mysteriously went missing, but now that it's back, here is my art page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/mmcillustrati… Not as pretty as DA, but MMC Illustrations is going to be my studio name at conventions from now on so check it out!

2010
Since I probably won't write another journal and I usually do this, i'll do it now.  2010 in review. :aww:  In my opinion 2010 was much better than 2009.  Yeah i got married last year and all, but that didn't make it good, lol. Last year I said that in 2010 I would finally go to a convention and it happened! Youmacon was the experience of a lifetime.  I'm excited to be going to my second con here in a month, but i also plan to go to more cons this year!  I got to meet LittleKuriboh, Kroze and Vic Mignogna in person which was defenetly one of the best moments of the year. :D  I also did a couple of professional illustrating jobs which was cool.

2011
Time to set some unrealistic goals! :XD:
-Loose weight.  (Because I say i'm gonna try every year and fail. :XD:)
-Commit to starting my manga. (I have started, it's just VERY SLOW. I suck.)
-Get to more conventions. (Youmacon again, Colossalcon if they don't bring back the lottery and more if i can!)
-Improve Artistically. (Cause that's always a good thing.)
-Actually write some fanfiction. (Incase you hadn't noticed the lack there of.)

And those five will probably prove too much for me to handle since i'm the epitome of lazy. :XD:  I hope everyone has a happy new year! Even if you fail in the resolution department like me at least make sure your year is happy!

Leftovers For Sale

Tue Nov 16, 2010, 2:23 PM
I feel a little hopeless right now.  I can honestly say I've never appreciated my Facebook account until it was gone. I tried logging in this morning and it says my account has been disabled.  So for those of you who are my facebook friends, you may have noticed i've disappeared from existence.  I suppose if it was just my profile i wouldn't be too mad, though for the life of me i can't figure out why this has even happened.  BUT I had created a professional artist page for myself to advertise my artistic career which now also is gone! This sucks why?  Because I just gave out hundreds of business cards with the facebook page address on it and now no one will be able to access it! GRRRRRR! I didn't even get to share it here on DA with ya'll yet. :cries: So i'm in the mist of trying to prove that i am in fact a real person and what not.  Facebook is so legal now, this whole thing is scaring me.  Honestly... I've been on there for 5 1/2 years, and now they throw me off for no good reason.  What to do...

Aside from that, I'm happy to have my DA account cause DA is so much better than Facebook anyway.  So now that i've made another journal i wanted to tell you all about some stuff that's up for sale that is leftover from Youmacon, but i can't take it to Ohayocon.

My First Con Report

Mon Nov 1, 2010, 4:20 PM
Hey guys! I'm back from YOUMACON! Best weekend of my life! :D Now i have to spill it all out while the memories are still fresh.

Got there on Thursday night which proved to be a smart choice since there wasn't a single day the registration line wasn't at least 2 hours long. :faint: I was able to get my table first thing on Friday morning after waking up several hours before i needed too, lol.  So started my severely sleep deprived weekend. :XD:  I actually went to the PJ Party on Thursday night, but despite sitting at the supposed DA table, i didn't seem to find anyone from Deviantart. Weird... But I enjoyed walking around in my PJs.

Friday I got my table.  To my disappointment my table ended up being in the sort of spill over alley, meaning my table was in a separate hall from the rest of the artists. :( People still came by, but it's harder to find, so I'm betting there were plenty of people who didn't know that the extra row of tables was actually also artist alley.  The only times when lots of people came by where while lines were forming for the Main Events.  Then it was just crazy loud.  I decided since Vic Mignogna and Todd Haberkorn were going to be there that I would try to get autographs while my husband watched my table for me.  After nearly 3 hours of waiting I finally made it to the front of the line, surprised to see that the actors were even still there. I seriously felt bad for them.  I could tell, Vic couldn't even smile anymore.  But I thanked him for sticking around. :D

Saturday was a far more exciting day.  More sales and more excitement.  LittleKuriboh and company were signing on Saturday morning.  Probably because of the earlier hour, the line wasn't nearly as long.  Because of my terrible table location, I figured since I knew Kroze wanted a copy of 'Card Games on Light Cyles' I would just give them as gifts since none of them were ever going to find my table. So I gave one to Martin and one to Kroze.  They both seemed pretty excited about it.  Never imagined they'd be even a little excited to be meeting me, lol.  Kroze was so excited he actually got up and ran around the table to give me a hug!  Apparently he loves TRON just as much as me.  I can definitely remember feeling way more excited to meet LK and Kroze than meeting Vic and Todd.  I guess I just love YGO Abridged that much, lol.

So on Sunday I was able to go to the YGO Abridge Panel.  50th episode party! It was pretty Epic I must say.  There's something more exciting about watching the episodes with a room full of people and not just by yourself.  You laugh harder!  Actually Martin decided to share with us a special moment that made him start to cry.  So then I started to cry too cause I'm such a softy!  I can't find a video of it on Youtube yet, but it was about how he is like Yugi because he used to get bullied and how he just wanted to make people laugh.  Needless to say, he's done well!  But probably my most favorite part of the panel was at the end when LK surprised us with something he didn't tell anyone about.  I hope I'm allowed to say since I was there, but from what I can tell, it hasn't made it to the website yet.  Anywho, LK is now starting to dub… SEASON ZERO!!!!!!!!1111111 Psychotic Yami Yugi for the win! Maybe you had to be there.  It was awesome! I hope it comes online soon cause I wanna watch it again!  It just had the same sort of charm that Duelist Kingdom did.  :D :D :D Love love love!  I miss Youmacon!

Busy for Youmacon

Thu Oct 14, 2010, 10:36 AM
Hey all. :D I'm still super pumped for Youmacon! I can't believe it's only 14 days away. *freakout* To me that's like too soon since i'm not ready yet, lol.  But i've been kicking my butt in high gear.  Been painting like crazy trying to get all these bags done. Haven't even started my prints yet, but there's still time.  Right now i've got 11 images that will be available.  If i don't sell them all (and i probably won't) the leftovers will probably be for sale.  And since i convinced my husband that he should dress up just one day since it'll be Halloween weekend, i've now got to squeeze in time to make 2 more cosplays. :faint:  Somehow I will get through this list of never ending stuff, lol. It's hard to concentrate cause i just get caught up daydreaming of being there. Apparently there will be a PJ Party on thursday night and there's going to be a small Deviant meet for DA artists to meet each other. I totally dig that. I want to meet lots of new people!!! So if you're going to be there, you should come. :D :D :D

In other awesome news, I didn't want to say anything until it was offical, but now that it is, I am offically going to OHAYOCON!!! :excited: :excited: :excited: Pretty pumped about that too. EEEEEEKKK! So as soon as i get back from Youmacon, i'm going to restock and keep painting more to take to Ohayocon, lol.  I feel honored to be going.  Ohayocon's the biggest Ohio convention, so i'm pretty excited to see it first hand and be apart of it. :D

Another cool thing that happened lately, my deviation, 'Card Games on Light Cycles' was feature on yugiohtas's Twitter page. So be it Martin or whoever it was, thanks for that! I freaked out a little, lol.

Ok, i should seriously go back to painting now.  Come to Youmacon!!!

Excited! and Question?

Sun Aug 29, 2010, 11:36 PM
Hey Guyssssss. And Girls. :XD: I'm so tired.  Been up since 7am and now it's 2 am! My man went on a short business trip so i thought i would use this time to stay up late cause i never get to anymore, lol.  Actually i decided to work on my cosplay for a con that's 2 months away. (Wearing one at the moment.)  Smart move if you ask me since everyone puts theirs' off till the last minute.  I plan on spending my 11th hour in the art department.  (And i will be, garenteed!) Sooooo much to do.  I spent the last week working on more change purses, and i only managed to get 3 more done. :faint: FAIL! I need to pick up the pace if i want to have anything to sell.  Which brings me to a BIG question i have.  To anyone who has ever done an artist alley or knows someone who has before, what is the best way to approach the prints?  I seriously don't know.  I thought of having them mass printed at some place like OfficeMax or Kinko's, but after how much i have to spend and the price i would charge, i'd probably end up loosing money... So i'm confused.  I could really use some advice if anyone's got any!  Do you print them out yourself from your own printer, or take the files to be printed elsewhere??? HELP!

It's been a while since i wrote a journal.  In my mind, i was holding out because i thought it would be bad luck since i'm waiting to find out of i got into Ohayocon's artist alley.  They opened up while i was in Canada on vacation.  Luckily my husband was nice enough to get internet access so i could apply!  So i definetly got in on time, but the wait is killing me! I want to know! So yeah, i'll be back to tell you if i find out anytime soon. *crossesfingers*

But i did find out that LittleKuriboh is coming to Youmacon! :excited: *fangirlspazz* :excited:  I HAVE TO MEET HIM!  How many chances to do you get to be at the same con as LK?!?!?! He's actually the reason i ever even heard of Youmacon in the first place.  SO EXCITED!  Actually i'd be excited to meet anyone. (Including anyone who buys something from me.)  So far the guest list is a 'must meet everyone' list. :XD: We'll see how many times i can sneak away from my table. :XD:

Finally got my free DA T-Shirt.  Pretty excited about that too. I need to make a few trims due to the fact that it is huge, but that's an easy fix. And i've got the sewing machine out now anyway. :XD: I just never had a DA shirt before, so it's awesome! Goes well with my Fella and lanyard.  I feel like there was more that i was gonna say, but i forget.  I suppose i'll go write some fanfiction now since i hardly ever do that. :XD: :XD: :XD: So incase you're still reading and i've distracted you, go back to the first paragraph and answer my print question!!! THANK YOU!

Thu Jul 8, 2010, 8:02 PM
Hey guys!  First off, i want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. :D I think it's cool that DA made the birthday memo's so i can enjoy wishing all of you Happy Birthday's too!!! I had a great birthday.  My sister got me a Sonic t-shirt and this little Keyblade thing that's now on my house key.  Don't know if anyone's ever seen those little rubber ends you put on keys.  It's so cool! It's the first time i ever felt like my sister actually knew me well, lol.  My dad got me Ponyo which i've not had the chance to watch yet, but i'm excited! Miyazaki's movies are always great. :D :D :D  And my hubby got me a camera bag for my expensive camera.  Now i can actually take it places. :w00t: Plus it came with a little remote control so i can take pictures without having to set the self timer.  I'm excited about this for making my own stock poses since my self timer wasn't the best.  What kind of options are 2 seconds and 12 seconds for a self timer??? :XD:  I also spent some birthday money catching up my collection of Ouran Host Club.  I'd been having troubles finding the books i was on, but i recently dicovered why.  Ouran Host Club has been going for years! I never realized they've been coming out 6 months apart.  CRAZY! I guess it will be a while before i actually get to finish it!  Too bad, cause it's getting so GOOD!

Kay, enough of that.  Artwise i've not done anything this week cause i've been busy.  I went to Cedar Point on Monday and i've been so tired since, i feel like i can't catch up, lol. :faint: I was working on a second Soul Eater pic. Also, i'm planning on entering several contests, all of which seem to end at the end of this month! SO MUCH TO DO! Why am i such a contest sucker? :XD:  That and i've got plenty of planning to do for Youmacon!!! :excited: I have been writing the next chapter of KH2:TDH.  It just keeps getting longer and longer and longer, lol.  But that's good.  At least it's moving!  I recently randomly came up with another original story in my head.  (Even though i already had one i was planning to write someday :XD:) I love it when random new stories are born.  It give me lots to work with down the road.  I also recently finally got through the first half of Chain of Memories! *I'm so slow...* It was a little tough, but i pumped up Sora's power enough to take out Marluxia in only 5 tries. :XD: I'm excited to play as Riku next! Eeeeeek! :excited:

Ok, i think that's it.  I feel like i wrote this way over the top excited.  Though i don't feel that excited about anything, lol.  Just a crazy 24 year old now. :XD: Ta ta!

AA News!!!

Fri Jun 18, 2010, 9:12 PM
What's up guys?  I know i just wrote a journal and all, but i've got some fantastic news! Guess who's going to Youmacon?! *fangirl scream* :excited: Check it out --> www.youmacon.com/artists.php&n… on the list.  Heck yes!  This of course makes the input that some of you gave me on my last journal all the more important, so thank you!  If anyone is able to come I would love to see you there.  It's about 4-5 hours from where i live, so i'm slowly spreading my wings. :D And i'm still hoping *fingers crossed* that LittleKuriboh will be invited back as a guest so i can meet him!  I know the con's not till Halloween, but i've got so much to do! Creative overload! :excited: :excited: :excited:

Other than that awesomeness, my cousin's getting married tomorrow.  Fun wedding times!  Soooo glad it's not mine. :XD: I don't think i'd ever get married again.  Way too stressful. But this one should be fun. Have a good one everybody! :D

Canvas Shoe Question

Mon Jun 14, 2010, 8:37 AM
Hey guys! Time to get up to speed. (Yugioh 5D's much?) A week ago I became an aunt for the second time. :aww: It's making my husband want to have babies, lol.  But Molly's not ready for babies. :XD: I still feel young even though i'm not.  My 24th birthday's coming up in less than a month.  Eeeeek! I can't stop the years from piling on.  So much left to do before i grow up!  Still working on getting to a convention before children, that way anime isn't out of style when i can finally go again, lol.  How sad i am. :XD: But that brings me to a question i have for you all!

In the even i do get into an Artist Alley soon, i want to sell painted canvas shoes.  If you were at a con looking to buy painted shoes would you be more likely to buy them off the table or commission to be mailed at a later date?  I bought a bunch of shoes because they suddenly showed up in stores again and i would really like to paint them all and take them to have at the con, but my husband disagrees.  I would of course offer commissions regardless of whether or not i take shoes for the table or not.   But i would like some opinions, so send me your thoughts!

Also, i'm still commissioning shoes here, so don't hesitate to commission me if you're dieing to get a pair.  Shoes are in the plenty right now!

Time To Complain A Little...

Wed May 19, 2010, 1:27 PM
Version 7
Sometime during the day yesterday DA changed again. I think i hate every version more than the last.  I liked having a menu at the top of the page.  Now i have drop down menus.  *shudder* And where did the browse bar go?  Way to take away the convenience of my favorite thing to do.  And maybe this will be fixed in time, but when i full view deviations, i get to see a moment of pure crappy blur which urks me. I'm scared... :XD:  At least when version 6 came out i had the option of hiding all that jargen on the bottom of the page.  (Which i still keep that way.) Oy!

Seems like i've been doing a lot lately.  More and more people want me to draw stuff for them.  I'm ok with it though cause when you pay me, it makes me a happy person.  But i told my husband i think i went into the wrong major in college.  I majored in Fine Art, but all i've done since being out of school is Illustrate and Design, lol. Cool beans though.

I am working on some stuff right now.  It'll be a sort of 3 part project i guess.  When i finish the 3rd sketch, i'll probably post a preview for you to see since it'll probably take the rest of the year to finish. :XD: I'm so slow.  For example, the first one isn't even half way done yet and i've already invested approx. 20 hours in it. :faint: Artist's are so underpaid.  Hopefully i'll be able to use 2 of the 3 as prints for cons cause they are original characters.  I'm thinking about applying for Youmacon.  Not only would it be sweet to get in, but if LittleKuriboh goes back this year, i might get to meet him! Win win.

Well, i was having a rather productive day, so i'm gonna go now so i can keep that going. :D Ta!

New Stuff

Tue Apr 13, 2010, 9:06 AM
Hey guys! Time to update the journal.  And i have to cover up that DA Meme cause it's really long on the page.  But here's a link to it if you haven't read it yet: ryougirl.deviantart.com/journa… it so i can read about you too! :D

Fail
Anywho, been awhile.  Sometimes i get around to posting art, lol.  I have another pic that's near done, i just need to put forth the effort to actually finish it.  It's my first Soul Eater fanart. :D Coooooooool. Lol.  I sorta lost motivation when i found out i didn't get into Colossalcon's artist alley.  If i had i would have made it known a while ago.  So it would have been for sale, but not anymore! Stupid Lottery.  I doubt i'll be able to convince my husband to let me try out for Youmacon since it's in Detroit... *cries* Nevertheless, i will not give up.  Just more time to make more art!

New Stuff
Since i found out i wasn't going to be going to the Con, i decided to start blowing my money on other things to make me happy.  I finally invested in Manga Studio! *backflip* I've got nothing to work on yet though. I tried playing around with it on a lineart.  I sorta figured it out, but it's kinda hard.  Photoshop being my second nature, i imagine it's going to take some getting used to.  But now i can feel motivated to start that Manga i keep talking about. Maybe. :XD:

I also noticed the third book in the Looking Glass Wars series is out.  But i'm waiting for the paperback before i buy it cause the other two i have are paperback, and i can't have them be different. :XD:

So i guess that's it.  I thought i had more to say but i guess not, lol.  Guess i'll go back to Photoshoping and making art cause i love it so much.  Also, i'm really trying to pic up the pace on fics.  I actually worked on the KH one the other day so hopefully it won't be much longer before that progresses. Ta!
